Indian Scholar Mohammed Israel Nadwi passes away

Haryana — An Indian Hadith scholar Moulana Mohammed Israel Nadwi popular among the Islamic scholars of Indian-subcontinent passed away on Tuesday morning.

The 95-year-old Moulana Israel was born in his familial village of Jhandan in the suburb of Fareedabad in the northern India.

His parents sent him to Jamiyah Salafiyah Shakrawah after he completed Hindi and Urdu primary education. There, he studied Quran from Hajii Meharullah and Shaykh Muhammad Dawood Raaz.

Later he joined Darul-Uloom Nadwa in Lucknow, where he studied under Shaykh Muhammad Raabi Nadwi and Shaykh Abdul Majid Nadwi.

Afterwards he became teacher in Jamiyah Salafiyah Shakrawah. During the same time, Jamiat Ahle-Hadees Hariyana appointed him as their secretary general.

He authored numerous books for the Islamic students of knowledge to benefit from. His students claim that “their Shaykh” has left behind an unforgettable legacy.
