Police shoots dead all the four accused rapists and killers of India’s Vet Doctor case

Date:

Hyderabad – The four men accused of raping and murdering the 26-year-old veterinary doctor of India’s Telangana state were killed in a Police encounter around 3:30 am on Friday.

Police took the accused men Jollu Shiva, Jollu Naveen Kumar, Chintakunta Chenna Keshavulu and Mohammed Pasha to the spot – which is a bridge on Bengaluru-Hyderabad national highway (NH-44) near Chattanpalli village at Shadnagar – where they raped and burnt the victim on the night of November 27, local media reports quoted an official of the Cyberabad police commissionerate.

Police asked them to reconstruct the scene in order to interrogate the crime. Taking benefit of the situation when they attacked the Police in an attempt to run away, Police had to fire a couple of rounds to kill them.

“They did not stop even when asked to surrender. As a last resort, the police had to fire at them, killing them on the spot,” a Police officer said based on anonymity.

On November 27, the doctor was raped and brutally burnt which incurred a nation wide protest to bring rapists to justice.

Telangana’s IT Minister KT Rama Rao tweeted on November 29 that he would personally monitor the case and ensured speedy justice.

The Hyderabad police arrested the four accused within 36 hours of the crime and they were produced in the Shadnagar court on November 30 and were remanded to 14-day judicial custody the same evening.

Telangana government formed a fast track court for speedy disposal of the matter.

The court on Wednesday granted a seven-day Police custody of the accused. On Thursday, Police took them into custody for interrogation, and on Friday morning during interrogation when they attempted to attack Police, they were killed.
