Kashmiri-origin Imam of the Prophet’s mosque passes away

Media — The prominent Kashmiri-origin Imam of Prophet’s mosque in Medina, Sheikh Qari Mohammed Khalil passed away in the early hours of Monday.

Sheikh Khalil belonged to Muzaffarabad-Kashmir. He was the Imam of Masjid al-Quba, the first mosque of Islam, then in 2019, he was appointed as the Imam of Prophet’s mosque.

In the Islamic community, he was revered and respected for his profound understanding of the Quran and his fluent recitation.

Prophet’s mosque hosted his funeral prayers on Monday after the Maghrib prayers.

Many people attended the funeral, both Saudis and foreigners alike, and many of them expressed their profound sorrow at losing such a well-known member of the Islamic community.
