Senior Hamas officials perform Umrah in Saudi Arabia for the first time since 2015

Riyadh – Tuesday marked the first trip by a Hamas team to the Kingdom since 2015. The delegation was from the Palestinian militant organisation Hamas.

Social media users posted videos of leaders Ismail Haniyeh and Khaled Meshaal on Tuesday performing the Umrah pilgrimage in Mecca.

According to reports, a delegation from Hamas entered the Kingdom on Monday.

It is the delegation’s first trip to Saudi Arabia since Meshaal completed his Umrah there in 2015.

He also had a meeting with King Salman bin Abdulaziz of Saudi Arabia while he was there.

This most recent visit takes place at the same time that Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas is in the Kingdom.

To discuss recent developments in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, Abbas met with Mohammed bin Salman, the crown prince of Saudi Arabia, on Tuesday.
