“We must ensure that progress in technology serves humanity, not destruction,” he said.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy used his address to the 80th United Nations General Assembly to urge world leaders to work together in shaping a safer global order. While acknowledging the challenges posed by ongoing conflicts, he emphasized the opportunity for nations to cooperate on setting international rules for emerging technologies, especially artificial intelligence in weaponry.

Zelenskiy highlighted that the rapid pace of innovation in drones and defense systems presents not only risks but also the potential for shared security frameworks that can protect nations worldwide.

The Ukrainian leader also announced that his country is preparing to share its advanced defense technologies with international allies, presenting this as a way to strengthen global partnerships. “Our modern systems, tested in real conditions, can contribute to collective security,” he added, positioning Ukraine as a responsible partner in international defense cooperation.

The speech also underscored the importance of unity among nations. Zelenskiy noted that today’s interconnected world requires countries to stand together, regardless of geography, in addressing cross-border challenges such as airspace security and cyber threats.

Diplomatic engagement remained central to the discussions in New York, with U.S. and Russian officials holding talks on the sidelines of the Assembly. Observers viewed these conversations as a sign that dialogue remains possible, even amid disagreements.

By focusing on cooperation, responsible innovation, and the importance of global partnerships, Zelenskiy’s message carried a forward-looking vision: one where the international community works together to prevent an arms race and safeguard peace.
