New Delhi – British Columbia is actively working to strengthen its economic and trade relationship with India, focusing on long-term

New Delhi – British Columbia is actively working to strengthen its economic and trade relationship with India, focusing on long-term cooperation in resources, technology, energy, and sustainable development.

The Canadian province views India as a key global partner with growing demand, innovation capacity, and strong investment potential across multiple sectors.

The visit by British Columbia’s leadership highlights the province’s interest in building mutually beneficial commercial ties that support economic growth on both sides.

India’s expanding economy, large consumer base, and focus on infrastructure and clean energy make it an important destination for trade and collaboration.

One of the major areas of interest is liquefied natural gas, where British Columbia has been expanding its production capacity to meet global demand.

India’s rising energy needs present opportunities for stable supply arrangements that can support industrial growth and energy security.

Critical minerals are another important focus of cooperation, as both regions recognise the importance of reliable supply chains for modern technologies.

These minerals play a vital role in renewable energy, electric vehicles, electronics, and advanced manufacturing, making collaboration strategically valuable.

The lumber and forestry sector also offers strong potential, especially as India’s construction and housing markets continue to grow steadily.

British Columbia’s experience in sustainable forestry aligns well with India’s increasing emphasis on responsible development and urban expansion.

Technology and innovation form a key pillar of the proposed partnership, with interest in digital services, clean technology, and research collaboration.

Both regions aim to encourage business-to-business engagement, startup cooperation, and knowledge sharing to create long-term economic value.

The province’s outreach efforts are designed to attract investment, create employment opportunities, and strengthen people-to-people connections.

By engaging with Indian companies and institutions, British Columbia hopes to support its long-term investment goals while contributing to shared growth.

Trade diversification is an important theme, as regions around the world seek balanced economic relationships across multiple markets.

India’s role as a global manufacturing and services hub makes it a natural partner for provinces seeking resilient and future-ready trade ties.

Meetings with business leaders and industry representatives are intended to identify practical areas of cooperation and investment.

Such engagements help lay the foundation for structured partnerships that can evolve into long-term commercial agreements.

Education, skills development, and talent exchange are also seen as supportive elements of deeper economic engagement.

Collaboration in these areas can strengthen innovation ecosystems and help businesses adapt to changing global demands.

The overall approach reflects a positive outlook focused on opportunity, collaboration, and shared economic progress.

By emphasising trade, resources, and innovation, both sides can work toward sustainable growth and mutual benefit.

The strengthening of ties between British Columbia and India reflects broader global trends of cooperation and interconnected development.

Such partnerships contribute to economic stability, supply chain resilience, and long-term prosperity for businesses and communities.

Mumbai – Indian equity markets are entering 2026 with renewed optimism, as improving earnings visibility and supportive policy measures set

Mumbai – Indian equity markets are entering 2026 with renewed optimism, as improving earnings visibility and supportive policy measures set the stage for stronger performance after a year of relative underperformance.

Despite global headwinds in 2025, India’s benchmark indices continued their long-term growth streak, reflecting the resilience of the domestic economy and investor confidence.

The Nifty 50 and Sensex delivered gains of over 10% and 9% respectively in 2025, marking the tenth consecutive year of annual advances and underscoring India’s consistency as an investment destination.

While these returns lagged several emerging and Asian peers, analysts see this divergence as creating attractive entry points rather than signalling structural weakness.

Market participants now expect Indian equities to regain momentum in 2026, driven by a combination of stronger corporate earnings, easing financial conditions, and improving global risk appetite.

Policy support has played a crucial role in stabilising sentiment, with tax relief measures and interest rate reductions providing a boost to consumption and investment activity.

The Reserve Bank of India’s liquidity initiatives have further strengthened confidence, particularly within the financial sector, which remains central to India’s growth story.

Large domestic inflows have continued to act as a stabilising force, effectively absorbing record foreign outflows and cushioning markets from excessive volatility.

Equity mutual fund investments and broader institutional participation highlight the depth and maturity of India’s domestic capital base.

Volatility indicators remained subdued through much of 2025, reflecting earnings resilience and a stable macroeconomic environment even amid global uncertainty.

Looking ahead, brokerage estimates suggest meaningful upside for benchmark indices by the end of 2026, supported by reasonable valuations and improving profitability trends.

Large-cap stocks are increasingly seen as attractively priced, with valuation premiums relative to global peers dipping below long-term averages.

This valuation reset is encouraging selective foreign interest and reinforcing confidence among long-term domestic investors.

Analysts expect market performance in 2026 to be more selective, with a clear preference emerging for fundamentally strong companies and sectors.

Financial stocks are widely viewed as a key driver of future gains, supported by expectations of stronger credit growth, balance sheet health, and ongoing reform momentum.

Automobile companies are also positioned well, benefiting from tax incentives, lower borrowing costs, and improving demand across urban and rural markets.

The metals sector continues to draw attention on the back of improving global demand signals and expectations of accommodative monetary conditions in major economies.

At the same time, technology stocks face near-term challenges from subdued overseas spending, but long-term prospects remain intact given India’s digital capabilities.

Market experts caution that smaller companies may experience continued pressure, as elevated valuations and tighter liquidity conditions favor quality over speculation.

Overall, the outlook for Indian equities in 2026 is defined by cautious optimism, with policy support, earnings growth, and domestic participation forming a strong foundation.

As valuations normalize and profitability improves, India’s equity markets are well positioned to reclaim leadership among emerging economies and deliver sustainable returns.

Mumbai – ICICI Prudential Asset Management has achieved a landmark moment in India’s capital markets after attracting bids worth approximately $33 billion, placing it among the most subscribed initial public offerings in the country’s history.

The overwhelming response reflects deep investor confidence in India’s financial services sector and highlights the growing maturity of domestic capital markets.

The $1.2 billion share sale closed with extraordinary demand across investor categories, reinforcing the strength of India’s asset management industry at a time of sustained economic expansion.

Market observers have described the IPO as a strong endorsement of India’s long-term growth story, supported by rising household participation in financial assets.

This milestone positions ICICI Prudential Asset Management as the fourth most subscribed IPO ever in India, joining a select group of historic market offerings.

Such enthusiasm underscores the appetite for well-governed, professionally managed financial institutions with proven track records and transparent business models.

The company benefits from its strong parentage as a joint venture between ICICI Bank and Prudential, combining domestic scale with global expertise.

Investors were particularly encouraged by the firm’s leadership position in mutual funds and its ability to consistently grow assets under management.

With more than 10 trillion rupees in assets and a significant market share, the company represents stability and scale in a rapidly evolving investment landscape.

Institutional investors led the charge, reflecting global confidence in India’s asset management growth and regulatory framework.

Their strong participation also signals increasing international interest in India’s financial sector as a long-term investment destination.

Non-institutional and retail investors also participated actively, highlighting broad-based confidence across investor segments.

This inclusive demand pattern reflects growing financial awareness among Indian households and rising trust in professionally managed investment products.

The IPO comes at a time when India is poised for a record-breaking year in capital raising, with multiple high-profile listings strengthening market depth.

Financial services firms have played a central role in this momentum, supported by policy stability, digital adoption, and expanding investor participation.

Analysts have pointed to favorable industry fundamentals, including rising mutual fund penetration and increasing use of systematic investment plans.

These trends have transformed asset management into a core pillar of India’s financial ecosystem, benefiting both investors and the broader economy.

Ahead of the IPO, strategic stake sales to global and domestic marquee investors further reinforced confidence in the company’s valuation and governance standards.

Such participation added credibility and underscored the company’s appeal to long-term institutional capital.

The successful IPO also strengthens India’s position as one of the world’s most vibrant equity markets.

It demonstrates the ability of Indian markets to absorb large offerings while maintaining healthy demand and price discovery.

As shares prepare to list, market participants expect sustained interest supported by strong fundamentals and sectoral growth prospects.

The listing is widely seen as a positive signal for future issuers considering the public markets.

Overall, the IPO stands as a testament to India’s evolving financial landscape and growing global investor confidence.

It reinforces the narrative of India as a resilient, opportunity-rich market driven by structural reforms and expanding financial inclusion.

Mumbai — In a significant move for India’s financial sector, InCred Holdings, the parent company of InCred Financial Services Limited,

Mumbai — In a significant move for India’s financial sector, InCred Holdings, the parent company of InCred Financial Services Limited, has officially filed its draft prospectus with the market regulator for an upcoming Initial Public Offering (IPO). This marks a new milestone in the company’s journey, showcasing its confidence, growth, and long-term vision for India’s booming financial services market.

The Mumbai-based group, known for its customer-centric approach and innovative lending solutions, continues to make waves in the non-banking financial sector. Founded in 2016, InCred has built a strong presence across India by offering a diverse range of financial products designed to meet the needs of modern consumers and businesses.

InCred provides personal loans, education loans, and secured business loans, catering to individuals, entrepreneurs, and students alike. Its inclusive approach to lending has helped empower thousands of small businesses and individuals, offering accessible credit to those who may not be served by traditional banking systems.

The company’s success story is a testament to India’s growing appetite for digital financial services. With over 250 billion rupees ($2.84 billion) disbursed since inception and a network of more than 140 branches, InCred has served over 400,000 satisfied customers nationwide. Its expansion reflects India’s increasing trust in digital finance, innovation, and financial inclusion.

The planned IPO is expected to strengthen InCred’s capital base, allowing it to scale operations and further expand its footprint across the country. The funds raised will likely be used to boost lending capacity, upgrade digital infrastructure, and enhance product diversification — enabling the company to compete with top-tier players in the NBFC segment.

Industry experts view the move as a positive signal for India’s broader financial market. The IPO filing demonstrates investor confidence in the country’s fast-growing NBFC industry, which continues to play a crucial role in supporting India’s economic growth, particularly among small and medium-sized enterprises.

InCred’s leadership, led by founder Bhupinder Singh, has consistently focused on technology-driven growth and customer-first strategies. By combining financial expertise with cutting-edge analytics, InCred has been able to provide faster approvals, transparent processes, and personalized loan options that appeal to a diverse customer base.

The company’s digital-first approach aligns perfectly with India’s evolving fintech ecosystem. It integrates artificial intelligence and advanced risk assessment models to ensure responsible lending while maintaining efficiency and scale. Such innovation has positioned InCred as one of India’s most promising financial technology-driven NBFCs.

With its upcoming IPO, InCred Holdings is set to strengthen its position not just as a financial service provider but as a key driver of India’s economic empowerment. The company’s commitment to bridging financial gaps, promoting entrepreneurship, and supporting educational aspirations reflects its broader vision for a financially inclusive India.

The announcement of the IPO filing has already generated enthusiasm among investors and analysts, who see InCred as part of the new generation of agile, forward-thinking Indian financial firms shaping the nation’s future. The listing could open new opportunities for domestic and global investors looking to participate in India’s dynamic financial landscape.

As India continues to evolve into a global financial hub, InCred’s progress symbolizes the potential of innovation-led financial institutions. The IPO will not only boost investor confidence but also reinforce India’s image as a leader in digital finance and entrepreneurial success.

InCred Holdings’ step toward going public represents a milestone in modern Indian finance, blending technology, trust, and transparency to create a strong, sustainable future for customers and investors alike.

Mumbai — India’s Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT City) is taking a major leap forward in financial innovation as discussions

Mumbai — India’s Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT City) is taking a major leap forward in financial innovation as discussions are underway with the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to enable domestic banks to settle foreign exchange transactions in real-time.

The move promises faster, more efficient, and cost-effective forex operations, enhancing the attractiveness of GIFT City as a premier finance hub rivaling global centres like Dubai and Singapore.

The International Financial Services Centres Authority (IFSCA) recently launched a real-time foreign currency settlement system at GIFT City, with Standard Chartered India initially handling U.S. dollar clearances.

This pioneering system has cut settlement times dramatically, from nearly 24 hours to just 30 seconds, streamlining operations for investors and financial institutions alike.

K. Rajaraman, chairman of IFSCA, confirmed that discussions with the RBI are focused on expanding the facility to include domestic banks. Once approved, Indian lenders will be able to settle their forex transactions instantly through GIFT City, opening new business avenues and providing investors with greater flexibility and efficiency in cross-border trading.

“In the next six-to-eight months, we plan to allow banks in India to settle their dollar transactions through this clearing system with due permissions from the Reserve Bank of India,” he said.

This innovation aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision to position GIFT City as a global financial hub. By combining real-time forex settlements with tax-neutral advantages, GIFT City is set to attract more foreign investors and strengthen India’s position in international financial markets.

GIFT City is also enhancing its derivatives market. The National Stock Exchange of India recently introduced daily expiry contracts for GIFT Nifty, a dollar-denominated derivative of the Nifty 50 index traded at the hub.

Unlike domestic derivatives, which have stricter regulations to protect retail investors, GIFT Nifty is designed for institutional participants, ensuring robust risk management while providing exciting opportunities for sophisticated investors.

Rajaraman emphasized that risk measures are in place to prevent any spillover from derivative activity at GIFT City to domestic markets, ensuring stability and confidence for all participants.

He noted, “The dollar-denominated instruments are meant for institutional investors, mitigating the issues often seen with retail trading in domestic derivatives.”

These advancements reflect India’s proactive approach to modernizing its financial infrastructure, combining technology, efficiency, and regulatory foresight.

By enabling real-time FX settlements and offering innovative derivative products, GIFT City is setting a global benchmark for financial centers, attracting both domestic and international investors.

With these developments, GIFT City is not only simplifying forex and derivative transactions but also creating a dynamic ecosystem that encourages growth, investment, and financial innovation.

The city is poised to become a shining example of India’s commitment to strengthening its financial markets, fostering investor confidence, and promoting the country as a leading hub for global finance.

New Delhi – India’s corporate sector, widely known as India Inc, has displayed remarkable resilience in the first half of

New Delhi – India’s corporate sector, widely known as India Inc, has displayed remarkable resilience in the first half of the financial year 2025-26 (H1FY26), signaling a stable and confident business environment.

Leading credit rating agencies—including CareEdge, ICRA, Crisil, and India Ratings (Ind-Ra)—have reported that credit rating upgrades continue to outnumber downgrades.

This positive trend highlights the strength of Indian companies and reflects broader confidence in the country’s economic trajectory.

A key driver of this resilience has been robust domestic demand. Despite global economic uncertainties and external challenges, such as rising U.S. tariffs, Indian companies have continued to experience consistent consumer demand across manufacturing, retail, services, and technology sectors.

This sustained demand has helped corporations maintain healthy revenues and profitability, contributing to stable credit profiles. India’s large and growing consumer market, with over 1.4 billion people, rising middle-class incomes, and increasing digital adoption, provides a strong buffer against global volatility.

Companies catering to the domestic market have been able to maintain healthy cash flows, repay debts on time, and strengthen their balance sheets.

Government-led infrastructure investment has further bolstered corporate credit strength. Increased spending on highways, railways, ports, urban development, and renewable energy has created significant business opportunities, providing predictable revenue streams for companies in construction, steel, cement, and logistics.

This coordinated approach between public initiatives and corporate activity has enhanced the overall investment climate, supporting creditworthiness across sectors.

Prudent corporate practices have also played a central role in this resilience. Indian companies have maintained disciplined balance sheets, with controlled leverage and strong liquidity positions

Careful capital allocation has ensured investments are directed toward long-term growth areas, minimizing risks while sustaining financial health. These practices have been critical in navigating global trade tensions, fluctuating commodity prices, and varying interest rates, enabling Indian corporations to maintain strong credit ratings and investor confidence.

Favorable macroeconomic conditions in India have reinforced this stability. Stable inflation, supportive monetary policies, and a well-regulated banking system provide companies with a predictable operating environment.

Ongoing reforms to enhance ease of doing business further strengthen the corporate ecosystem, attracting domestic and international investment. Analysts note that the consistent pattern of credit upgrades reflects investor confidence in India’s long-term growth potential.

From a global perspective, India’s corporate credit resilience positions the country as a stable and attractive market for international investors.

Strong credit profiles enable companies to access financing at competitive rates, invest in innovation, and expand operations—benefiting both the local economy and international partners.

Strategic government initiatives, combined with robust domestic consumption and infrastructure development, make India a compelling destination for cross-border investment and long-term business partnerships.

In summary, India Inc’s performance in H1FY26 underscores the robustness of the nation’s corporate ecosystem. Supported by strong domestic demand, strategic infrastructure spending, disciplined corporate management, and favorable economic conditions, Indian companies have successfully navigated external uncertainties.

This positive trajectory demonstrates India’s capacity for sustainable growth and resilience, offering global investors a reliable and dynamic environment to engage with the world’s fastest-growing major economy.

Bengaluru — India’s equity markets are gearing up for a record-setting final quarter in 2025, with initial public offerings (IPOs) expected to raise up to $8 billion, driven by strong domestic and international investor interest.

Major companies, including Tata Capital and LG Electronics India, are among the top firms launching share sales this month, reflecting the market’s renewed momentum and robust confidence in the Indian economy.

The October–December period is poised to become the second busiest quarter for IPOs in India’s history, trailing only last year’s record. Over the first nine months of 2025, more than 240 large and mid-sized firms raised $10.5 billion, positioning India as the third-largest global market for IPO fundraising, according to LSEG data.

“Investor interest is very strong, with eight to nine major IPOs lined up this quarter,” said Suraj Krishnaswamy, Managing Director of Investment Banking at Axis Capital. “Each is targeting between $600 million and $1.8 billion, marking a significant step for the Indian markets.”

Tata Capital, part of the Tata Group conglomerate, will open its share sale on October 6 with plans to raise $1.5 billion, making it the largest IPO so far this year. LG Electronics India will follow a day later with a $1.3 billion offering. The South Korean consumer electronics giant is India’s second-largest appliance maker, competing with major players like Whirlpool and Samsung, and its listing highlights the growing interest of global firms in Indian markets.

Several other companies, including ICICI Prudential Asset Management, ed-tech firm PhysicsWallah, AI services provider Fractal Analytics, and non-bank lender Credila Financial, are preparing IPOs for November and December. Roadshows are already underway, signaling strong market confidence and investor engagement.

Experts attribute the IPO surge to a “window of opportunity” created by strong domestic liquidity and resilient investor demand. Kailash Soni, Head of India Equity Capital Markets at Goldman Sachs, noted that this enthusiasm reflects both retail and institutional appetite for high-quality Indian shares.

Nipun Lodha, Head of Investment Banking at PL Capital, highlighted that robust market participation is driving IPO momentum, attracting even more multinational firms to list local units in India.

“The reason MNCs are listing in India is that the market offers high valuations supported by abundant domestic capital,” said Yatin Singh, CEO of Emkay Global Financial Services. Retail investors are also showing strong engagement, viewing IPOs as opportunities for immediate gains and long-term market participation.

While the benchmark Nifty 50 index has risen 4.3% in 2025, IPOs have delivered average listing-day gains of 12%, reflecting the sector’s resilience and investor confidence. Of the 59 large IPOs listed this year, 42 posted gains on debut, underscoring strong market optimism.

With a surge of high-profile offerings and a dynamic investor base, India’s IPO market is set to close the year on a strong note. Analysts and investors alike view the upcoming quarter as a landmark period for equity markets, cementing India’s position as a leading destination for global capital and corporate growth.

Mumbai – India’s equity benchmarks continued to face pressure on Monday, but underlying sectoral strength signaled resilience, with energy, oil

Mumbai – India’s equity benchmarks continued to face pressure on Monday, but underlying sectoral strength signaled resilience, with energy, oil and gas, and mid-cap stocks providing support as investors looked ahead to the Reserve Bank of India’s policy decision this week.

The Nifty 50 closed at 24,634.90 and the Sensex at 80,364.94, with both indices edging down just 0.08% despite global uncertainties and sustained foreign outflows. Analysts noted that this stability reflects the depth of India’s markets and their ability to absorb external shocks.

Energy stocks led the rally, with the Nifty Energy index gaining 0.7% and oil and gas up 1.4%. Oil marketing majors Bharat Petroleum, Hindustan Petroleum, and Indian Oil advanced 4.2%, 4.6%, and 2.9% respectively after government clarity on pricing reforms and renewed focus on market capitalization lifted investor sentiment.

Mid-cap stocks also strengthened, rising 0.3%, while small caps held steady—showcasing strong domestic investor confidence.

Market watchers said anticipation ahead of the RBI’s policy meeting on Wednesday has kept trading cautious. While most economists expect rates to remain unchanged, the possibility of a cut has raised optimism for improved liquidity, stronger consumption, and higher corporate earnings in the coming quarters.

“Despite global headwinds, domestic factors like policy clarity, energy reforms, and strong corporate fundamentals are providing a cushion to Indian markets,” said Vinod Nair, Head of Research at Geojit Investments.

Investors also see opportunities in the current consolidation phase. Analysts suggest that a potential turnaround in banking and IT stocks, coupled with sustained strength in energy and consumption-driven sectors, could set the stage for a rebound.

While headline indices have seen seven straight sessions of mild declines, market breadth remains healthy, with 10 out of 16 sectors advancing on the day. Experts believe this sectoral resilience highlights the long-term strength of India’s growth story.

Mumbai (Reuters) – The BRICS countries-backed New Development Bank (NDB) plans to issue its first Indian rupee-denominated bond in the

Mumbai (Reuters) – The BRICS countries-backed New Development Bank (NDB) plans to issue its first Indian rupee-denominated bond in the domestic market before end-March 2026, three sources familiar with the matter said.

NDB, which has previously raised funds in Chinese yuan and South African rand, is in advanced stages of discussions with the Indian central bank for its debut rupee issuance, the sources said.

It will look to raise between $400 million and $500 million through 3-5 year bonds in the first tranche, one of the sources said.

The plan comes at a time when China and India are both pushing for greater international acceptance of their currencies and as investors are seeking to diversify their assets beyond developed markets.

Earlier this week, China rolled out measures to support the development of yuan bonds in Hong Kong and, over the past few months, the Indian central bank has announced steps to allow wider investment options for foreign funds held in Indian bank accounts.

Details of the bond issuance have not been previously reported. It could not be ascertained if NDB has appointed bankers to the issue.

A spokesperson for the Reserve Bank of India did not respond to a request for comment. The sources declined to be identified as they are not authorised to speak to the media.

“NDB is working with the government of India and regulators to explore raising funds in the local markets to provide local currency finance for Indian projects,” Monale Ratsoma, the bank’s Chief Financial Officer, said in response to Reuters queries. He declined to share details on the issuance.

Final approvals for the issue are pending with the Reserve Bank of India, two other sources familiar with the conversations said. It is not clear if all government approvals have been received.

An email sent to a government spokesperson was not immediately answered.

NDB had been planning to tap the Indian rupee bond market two years ago but two of the three sources said issuance was delayed as approvals from the government and central bank did not materialise then.

Five-year Strategy

Multilateral agencies such as the World Bank’s International Finance Corporation have previously issued rupee-denominated bonds in the overseas and local markets, drawing strong investor interest.

Established in 2015 by Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa, the NDB has raised about a third of its $11 billion bond issues in local currencies, primarily the yuan and South African rand, with plans to expand into other member currencies.

NDB has targeted to provide 30% of its total financing commitments over the five-year strategy period in national currencies of member countries, the bank stated in its strategy report for 2022-26.

Issuing the bonds in the Indian market will add to the liquidity and diversity of the local bond market, said one of the sources quoted above. The onshore market has more depth and will help in better price discovery, this person added.

“The issue will draw interest from a segment of investors particularly those focused on emerging markets and interested in the de-dollarisation trend, said Vivek Rajpal, Asia strategist at investment advisory firm JB Drax Honore, adding that it can also be seen as a step in the direction of rupee internationalisation.
