The remarks come against the backdrop of renewed hostilities involving Israel and armed groups in Lebanon, raising concerns among international stakeholders about a widening conflict.

Israel previously occupied southern Lebanon for nearly two decades before withdrawing in 2000.

Canada’s statement did not outline any specific measures but underscored Ottawa’s position on respecting international law and state sovereignty as fighting intensifies in the region.
