Makkah — The Muslim World League (MWL) on Friday condemned a new law passed by Knesset authorizing the death penalty

Makkah — The Muslim World League (MWL) on Friday condemned a new law passed by Knesset authorizing the death penalty in cases involving Palestinians, calling it discriminatory and a violation of basic human rights.

The legislation, approved earlier this week, allows for capital punishment to be applied as a default sentence for Palestinians in the occupied West Bank convicted of carrying out deadly attacks against Israelis, according to official statements and media reports.

MWL Secretary-General Mohammed Al-Issa said the measure reflects continued disregard for the rights and dignity of the Palestinian people, citing concerns over what he described as repression, racial discrimination and inhumane treatment of detainees.

Under the legal framework, Palestinians in the West Bank are subject to military courts, while Israeli citizens, including Palestinian citizens of Israel, are tried in civilian courts. Critics say the structure effectively results in unequal application of the death penalty.

The MWL expressed support for similar positions taken by foreign ministers from several countries, including Saudi Arabia, Turkiye, Egypt, Indonesia, Jordan, Pakistan, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates.

The law has added to international scrutiny of Israel’s legal and security policies in the occupied territories, particularly regarding the treatment of Palestinians within differing judicial systems.

Riyadh – The Secretary-General of the Muslim World League, Sheikh Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa, met with the Secretary-General of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development, Rebeca Grynspan, in Riyadh, highlighting the growing importance of constructive dialogue between faith-based institutions and global economic bodies.

The meeting reflected a shared commitment to addressing pressing international economic and development challenges through cooperation, dialogue, and inclusive engagement that places human welfare and sustainable growth at its core.

Held in the Saudi capital, the discussion underscored Riyadh’s expanding role as a hub for international dialogue, where global leaders from diverse sectors meet to exchange ideas and explore collaborative solutions.

Both leaders focused on issues of mutual interest, particularly those linked to global development pathways, economic resilience, and the need for balanced growth in a rapidly changing global economy.

The engagement demonstrated how international organizations and influential civil society institutions can work together to promote economic justice, opportunity, and shared prosperity across regions.

Sheikh Dr. Al-Issa emphasized the importance of ethical frameworks in global development, noting that sustainable economic progress is strongest when it is rooted in human dignity, cooperation, and mutual respect among nations.

Rebeca Grynspan highlighted the value of broad partnerships in advancing inclusive trade and development, stressing that global challenges require collaboration that extends beyond governments alone.

The meeting reflected a convergence of perspectives on the importance of multilateral engagement, particularly at a time when many economies face uncertainty due to shifting trade patterns and global financial pressures.

Discussions also touched on the role of dialogue in bridging gaps between developed and developing economies, ensuring that growth opportunities are more evenly distributed worldwide.

By engaging with UNCTAD leadership, the Muslim World League reinforced its role as an active participant in global conversations that go beyond cultural and religious dialogue to include economic and social development.

Observers note that such meetings contribute to building trust and understanding between international institutions and regional actors, creating space for innovative approaches to shared challenges.

The exchange of views in Riyadh aligns with broader efforts to strengthen cooperation between the Middle East and global organizations working on trade, development, and economic inclusion.

The meeting also highlighted Saudi Arabia’s increasing visibility as a convening platform for global discussions that address economic transformation and sustainable development goals.

Through dialogue with UNCTAD, opportunities emerge for collaborative initiatives that support developing countries, particularly in areas such as capacity building, fair trade, and inclusive growth strategies.

The engagement reflects a wider recognition that economic development is closely linked to social stability, education, and cross-cultural understanding.

Such high-level interactions contribute to shaping a global narrative centered on cooperation rather than competition, with an emphasis on long-term stability and shared benefits.

As international economic challenges continue to evolve, meetings like this reinforce the importance of partnership-driven solutions that bring together diverse perspectives and expertise.

The Riyadh discussion stands as an example of how dialogue at the intersection of global development and ethical leadership can contribute to more inclusive and resilient economic systems.

Riyadh — In a significant move to strengthen ties and foster dialogue across the Islamic world, Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa, Secretary-General of the Muslim World League (MWL), embarked on an official visit to Sudan, where he met with a delegation of Sudanese scholars and national leaders.

The visit reflects the MWL’s continued commitment to promoting peace, understanding, and religious awareness throughout the Muslim community, while supporting nations in their pursuit of unity and stability.

The meeting, attended by Sudan’s Prime Minister Kamil Idris, focused on several areas of mutual interest, emphasizing the critical role that scholars and religious leaders play in nurturing social harmony and guiding communities toward moderation and tolerance.

Dr. Al-Issa’s visit comes at a time when many nations are working to reinforce the principles of coexistence and compassion within their societies.

His engagement with Sudanese scholars underscored the MWL’s belief that true religious awareness goes beyond rituals and beliefs—it extends into fostering moral responsibility, respect for others, and a shared sense of humanity.

The dialogue aimed to empower religious figures to play a proactive role in encouraging dialogue, dispelling misconceptions, and countering extremist ideologies that threaten social cohesion.

During the visit, both sides reaffirmed their shared values and commitment to deepening cooperation in religious education, humanitarian initiatives, and cultural exchange.

The discussions touched on ways to promote balanced religious discourse that reflects the core teachings of Islam—peace, mercy, and justice.

Dr. Al-Issa praised the dedication of Sudanese scholars and their efforts in guiding communities through challenges while maintaining unity and faith-based resilience.

The Muslim World League, headquartered in Makkah, has long served as a global platform for promoting moderation, interfaith dialogue, and the true values of Islam.

Under Dr. Al-Issa’s leadership, the MWL has actively expanded its outreach to countries around the world, working with governments, religious institutions, and community organizations to spread messages of peace and mutual respect.

His visit to Sudan reflects this ongoing mission to ensure that religious understanding serves as a foundation for stability and progress.

In his discussions, Dr. Al-Issa highlighted the need for continuous collaboration between religious scholars and state institutions to ensure that faith remains a unifying force rather than a source of division.

He emphasized the importance of educating young people about authentic Islamic teachings that encourage coexistence and compassion, preparing them to become responsible citizens and positive contributors to society.

Prime Minister Kamil Idris expressed appreciation for the MWL’s efforts and for Dr. Al-Issa’s visit, noting that Sudan values the organization’s role in supporting the Muslim community worldwide.

This visit stands as a testament to the Muslim World League’s ongoing efforts to build bridges between nations, encourage cooperation among religious scholars, and support countries in their pursuit of harmony and progress.

By promoting religious awareness based on truth, compassion, and tolerance, the MWL continues to serve as a guiding light for the Muslim world, inspiring nations to embrace unity and shared purpose for a better future.

Riyadh – Saudi Arabia and the wider Islamic world are mourning the loss of Dr. Abdullah Omar Naseef, a distinguished scholar, humanitarian, and former Secretary-General of the Muslim World League (MWL), who passed away at the age of 86.

Dr. Naseef’s remarkable life and career left an enduring legacy of education, interfaith dialogue, and service to Islam, earning him international recognition and respect across communities.

Funeral prayers for the late scholar were held on Sunday at Al-Juffali Mosque in Jeddah, followed by his burial at Al-Asad Cemetery.

Family members, colleagues, and admirers gathered to honor a man remembered not only for his leadership but for his humility, integrity, and lifelong dedication to promoting peace and knowledge.

A Life Devoted to Service and Knowledge

Born in Jeddah in 1939, Dr. Abdullah Naseef earned his bachelor’s degree in chemistry from King Saud University in 1964 before pursuing an academic career that would span continents and inspire generations.

He rose to become president of King Abdulaziz University in Jeddah, where his leadership was marked by a vision to strengthen research and expand opportunities for Saudi students in science and higher education.

His scholarly and humanitarian journey took him well beyond academia. Dr. Naseef served as Deputy Chairman of the Saudi Shoura Council, where he was highly respected for his balanced views and unwavering commitment to national progress.

He also led the Muslim World League (MWL) as its Secretary-General, representing Saudi Arabia in global forums from 1983 to 1993, promoting Islamic unity, and advocating for constructive dialogue among civilizations.

An International Ambassador of Peace and Education

Dr. Naseef’s influence extended across borders. He represented the Kingdom at countless international conferences, where he consistently promoted understanding between nations and faiths.

His leadership helped strengthen the Muslim World League’s role as a bridge for global cooperation, emphasizing Islam’s universal values of compassion, justice, and knowledge.

He also co-founded and led several international educational and cultural institutions, including Dar Al-Islam in New Mexico, the Islamic College in Chicago, and the Islamic Academy in Cambridge.

He served as vice president of the International Islamic University in Islamabad and chaired the boards of prominent institutions such as the Islamic Cultural Centers in Geneva and Sydney, and the Institute for the History of Arabic and Islamic Sciences at the University of Frankfurt.

Dr. Naseef was also deeply engaged in humanitarian causes through his work with the International Islamic Relief Organization, World Muslim Congress, and International Islamic Council for Dawah and Relief.

His decades of service earned him numerous accolades, the most notable being the King Faisal Prize for Service to Islam in 1991, recognizing his outstanding leadership and contributions to Islamic education and international cooperation.

A Legacy of Leadership and Dialogue

Tributes poured in from across the globe following his passing. Faisal bin Muammar, founding secretary-general of the King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz International Center for Interreligious and Intercultural Dialogue, wrote on X (formerly Twitter):

“My deepest condolences and sympathy on the passing of Abdullah Omar Naseef, who departed this life after a distinguished journey filled with scholarly and humanitarian contributions. He was always a symbol of balance and wisdom — a man whose social and humanitarian legacy will be fondly remembered.”

Dr. Naseef also played a vital role in youth and community development, serving on the World Scout Committee and leading the International Union of Muslim Scouts. He viewed youth engagement as a cornerstone of building a responsible, ethical future generation.

As Chairman of the Abdullah bin Omar Naseef Charitable Foundation, he championed numerous initiatives in education and social welfare. His vision for humanitarian service was rooted in the belief that empowering individuals through education and compassion strengthens societies as a whole.

Jeddah — In a firm and heartfelt statement, the Muslim World League (MWL) on Wednesday condemned the recent terrorist attack

Jeddah — In a firm and heartfelt statement, the Muslim World League (MWL) on Wednesday condemned the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which claimed the lives of several innocent civilians and left many injured. The MWL described the act as a “heinous crime” and extended its deep condolences to the families of the victims, along with prayers for the swift recovery of the wounded.

The statement, issued from the General Secretariat in Makkah, reaffirmed the MWL’s unwavering stance—shared by the broader Islamic world—against all forms of violence and terrorism. It categorically rejected any justification for such acts and strongly opposed the exploitation of religion or culture to legitimize terrorism.

In its message, the MWL emphasized that terrorism has no place in any faith or tradition, and it should not be associated with any race, religion, or community. “Violent extremism must be condemned unequivocally, regardless of its form or manifestation,” the statement declared.

The timing of the statement was significant, coming shortly after a high-profile meeting between MWL Secretary General Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Jeddah on Tuesday. The meeting highlighted shared concerns around global terrorism and deepened the dialogue between India and the Islamic world on peacebuilding and counter-extremism efforts.

The MWL’s remarks also referenced a recent joint statement issued during PM Modi’s visit to Saudi Arabia, where both nations reinforced their commitment to combat terrorism and its financing. The MWL praised the “pivotal Saudi-Indian cooperation” and called for dismantling the cross-border terror infrastructure and bringing its perpetrators to justice.

Headquartered in Makkah, the MWL is one of the most prominent Islamic non-governmental organizations, with a global presence aimed at promoting peace, interfaith dialogue, and humanitarian outreach. Under the leadership of Dr. Mohammed Al-Issa, the MWL has taken a progressive stance against extremism, earning international respect for its efforts to build bridges across faiths and cultures.

India’s connection with the MWL has grown in recent years, especially under Prime Minister Modi’s outreach to the Muslim world. Dr. Al-Issa’s public condemnation of terrorism reflects a growing strategic alignment between India and key Islamic institutions in promoting global peace and fighting radical ideologies.

Makkah – The Secretary-General of the Muslim World League and Chairman of the Association of Muslim Scholars, Mohammed bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa, recently held a meeting with Sheikh Haji Ibrahim, the President of the Ethiopian Islamic Affairs Supreme Council, and the accompanying delegation at the league’s headquarters in Makkah on Saturday.

This meeting signifies the growing cooperation and collaboration between the two prominent Islamic organizations.

One significant outcome of the meeting was the presentation of engineering plans for the Najashi Mosque. The Muslim World League had previously announced its intention to establish the mosque in Ethiopia, and now, Al-Issa personally received the plans for the mosque’s construction. The Najashi Mosque is expected to become a symbol of Islamic heritage and a center for spiritual and educational activities in Ethiopia.

The Muslim World League plays a crucial role in promoting Islamic values, fostering dialogue, and strengthening relationships among Muslim communities worldwide.
The Muslim World League’s commitment to establishing the Najashi Mosque in Ethiopia demonstrates its dedication to supporting Islamic communities worldwide. This initiative is expected to contribute to the cultural and religious diversity of Ethiopia while strengthening the bonds between Muslims in different parts of the world.

As the plans for the Najashi Mosque move forward, the Muslim World League and the Ethiopian Islamic Affairs Supreme Council will continue to collaborate closely. Their joint efforts aim to create a vibrant Islamic center that will serve as a symbol of unity, spirituality, and knowledge within Ethiopia.

New Delhi – Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdul Karim Al-Issa, the secretary general of the Muslim World League (MWL) , who

New Delhi – Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdul Karim Al-Issa, the secretary general of the Muslim World League (MWL) , who is now visiting India, stated that a true Muslim rejects all forms of extremism and violence and coexists with everyone with love and honesty.

Al-Issa was preaching at the Jama Masjid in New Delhi when he gave the “Khutbah,” or sermon.

Important lessons from Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdul Karim Al-Issa’s speech include the following:

“A sincere Muslim has high morals that are obvious in their behaviour, expressing the grandeur and beauty of Islam through the standards enforced by the Muslim society. Adopting these principles helps to improve Islam’s standing. Furthermore, a Muslim must adhere to these ideals at all times because they are a fundamental part of their true behaviour.

Those who are unaware of the genuine nature of Islam frequently attribute the opposite behaviours to our religion, which is regrettable. Due to the activities of people who fraudulently claim to be Muslims, this misrepresentation takes place. Such impure conduct is regarded as a departure from Allah’s way.

“A sincere believer is respected by all because they uphold the highest moral standards and carry out the most admirable activities, which are the truest expressions of their religion. They represent Islam’s moderation and harmony, condemning all forms of violence and extremism, regardless of their reasons or covert purposes.

A Muslim, with their high values and all-encompassing wisdom, coexists with everyone with love and honesty, governed by the general national framework. Every country has this structure as its constitution. Our world can only experience peace, harmony, progress, and prosperity if we uphold the principles that bind every country’s citizens together.

“A Muslim respects their country’s Constitution and upholds the nation’s overall culture. They work to promote unity and prevent division by attempting to unite individuals.

“What would be appropriate for one nation might not be appropriate for another. Islamic scholars have therefore stated that different fatwas and Sharjah-based rulings may be made according on the unique situations and surroundings of each nation.

Al-Issa commends PM Modi

Al-Issa met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday. He praised Modi’s “passionate perspective” on inclusive growth on Wednesday and noted their shared belief in the significance of cooperating to combat all manifestations of extremism and bigotry, regardless of their source.

All Islamic nations and sects are represented in the Muslim World League, an international nongovernmental organisation with its headquarters in Mecca.

Its objectives are to spread awareness of Islam and its tolerant principles, offer humanitarian aid, build bridges of communication and cooperation with all, exhibit a positive openness to all cultures and civilizations, adhere to the path of centrism and moderation, and combat movements that call for extremism, violence, and exclusion.

New Delhi – According to National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Islam holds a special and crucial “position of pride” among the various religious groups in the nation. India has been a melting pot of cultures and religions that have coexisted in harmony for generations.
The Muslim World League Secretary General Sheikh Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa, who is in India, also spoke at the occasion where Mr. Doval made his comments at the India Islamic Cultural Centre.

Al-Issa was praised by Mr. Doval as a profound scholar with a thorough knowledge of Islam and as an authentic global voice of moderate Islam.

Mr. Doval praised the “excellent” connections between Saudi Arabia and India, saying they were founded on a common cultural history, shared values, and economic links.

The National Security Advisor stated that “our leaders share a common vision for the future and have been closely interacting with each other.”

In his remarks, Mr. Doval stated that India, the mother of democracies and the greatest democracy in the world, is a country of incredible diversity.

“You elaborately discussed diversity as a key aspect of our life in your (Al-Issa) discourse. For generations, many cultures, religions, languages, and ethnicities have coexisted peacefully in India. India has successfully provided room for all of its citizens regardless of their religious, ethnic, and cultural identities as an inclusive democracy, he said.

With India having the second-largest Muslim population in the world, Islam “occupies a unique and significant position of pride amongst its numerous religious groups,” he remarked.

For context, Mr. Doval stated that India’s Muslim population is almost comparable to the combined population of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation’s (OIC) more than 33 member states.
