Prosecutors had earlier stated that a Secret Service officer was struck in the chest by gunfire but protected by a bullet-resistant vest. Questions had emerged over whether the injury resulted from Allen’s weapon or possible friendly fire during the chaos.Pirro said Thursday there was no evidence the officer had been hit by friendly fire.

The video appears to show Allen’s weapon raised toward the officer before the agent discharged his firearm five times. It remains unclear from the footage at what precise moment Allen’s weapon was fired.Allen appeared briefly in federal court on Thursday before U.S. Magistrate Judge Moxila Upadhyaya, where he agreed to remain in custody pending trial. He did not enter a plea.

He was formally charged on Monday with attempted assassination of the president, along with two additional firearms offenses, including discharging a weapon during a crime of violence. He faces up to life in prison if convicted on the attempted assassination charge alone.

Court filings from prosecutors said Allen had taken a photograph of himself in his hotel room minutes before the attack while carrying an ammunition bag, a shoulder holster and a sheathed knife.

Authorities also cited messages they say indicate motive, including one in which Allen referred to himself as a “Friendly Federal Assassin” and expressed grievances related to multiple Trump administration policies. Prosecutors said the evidence pointed to a deliberate attempt to reach the ballroom where Trump was speaking.

Defense lawyers challenged that interpretation, arguing in court papers that the government’s case relies heavily on assumptions about intent and noting that Allen’s writings did not explicitly mention Trump by name.“The government’s evidence of the charged offense the attempted assassination of the president is thus built entirely upon speculation,” defense attorneys wrote.

The nearly six-minute surveillance compilation released by prosecutors includes footage from the day before the attack showing Allen walking repeatedly through a hotel hallway and briefly entering the gym.

At the security checkpoint, the video shows officers dismantling magnetometers and standing nearby when Allen suddenly emerges from a doorway and sprints toward the screening area. Most officers appear caught off guard as he rushes past them.

Only one visible officer appears to draw a weapon before Allen reaches the checkpoint. Pirro identified that officer as the agent who was struck and returned fire.Secret Service Director Sean Curran defended the agency’s handling of security for the event, saying the attack was contained within seconds at the outermost perimeter of a multi-layered protective zone around the president.

“The site was set up perfectly,” Curran said in an interview with Fox News, adding that multiple physical barriers and additional armed officers stood between the checkpoint and the ballroom podium where Trump was seated, approximately 355 feet away.

Allen, from Torrance, California, worked as a part-time tutor for a test preparation company and was also described by authorities as an amateur video game developer.

Authorities in Russia’s Krasnodar region said no injuries were reported, but emergency crews were deployed to contain the blaze at the port, which has become a repeated target because of its major oil terminal and refinery infrastructure.

“In Tuapse, as a result of a drone attack by the Kyiv regime, a fire broke out on the territory of the seaport terminal,” the regional emergency headquarters said in a statement on Telegram.Officials said 128 firefighters and 41 emergency vehicles were sent to the site to tackle the fire.

The latest strike comes days after a major drone attack on Tuesday triggered a large blaze at the Tuapse refinery, forcing a production shutdown and causing oil leakage into nearby coastal waters. The refinery fire was extinguished on Thursday morning, according to local Governor Veniamin Kondratyev.

A state of emergency has remained in place in the area since Tuesday as authorities continue cleanup operations along the Black Sea coastline.Emergency workers said on Thursday they had identified five additional oil-contaminated sections of coast. In total, officials reported removing 12,600 cubic meters of polluted material from beaches and surrounding areas.

The environmental fallout has disrupted daily life in Tuapse, with local authorities advising residents not to drink tap water or use natural spring water as a precaution and urging people to limit time outdoors due to elevated benzene levels in the air.

Russia’s consumer safety watchdog Rospotrebnadzor recommended residents keep windows closed and avoid prolonged outdoor exposure. May holiday celebrations and large public events were canceled.The official reassurances triggered criticism online from residents who questioned statements that the situation remained safe.

“How about she comes to visit us and tries our fresh air?” one social media user wrote in response to comments by Rospotrebnadzor chief Anna Popova, who said the situation posed no health risks.

Tuapse, a major Black Sea export point for Russian oil products, has faced repeated attacks as Ukraine intensifies long-range drone operations targeting Russia’s energy infrastructure.Kyiv has increasingly focused strikes on refineries, ports and fuel depots deep inside Russian territory, seeking to disrupt one of Moscow’s main sources of war financing as global oil prices remain elevated during the Iran conflict.

Ukrainian drones also struck an oil refinery near the Russian city of Perm on Thursday, marking the second consecutive attack on oil facilities in the Ural region.Ukraine’s military separately said it had targeted a refinery in Russia’s southern Orenburg region, roughly 1,500 km from the Ukrainian border, underlining Kyiv’s growing capacity for long-range attacks.

Russia has not independently confirmed the extent of damage from those strikes.Ukraine says its campaign against Russian energy infrastructure is a response to sustained Russian attacks on Ukrainian power plants, fuel depots and heating systems, which have caused widespread blackouts and civilian hardship, particularly during winter.

“Lebanon stands at a crossroads. Its people have a historic opportunity to reclaim their country and shape their future as a truly sovereign, independent nation,” the embassy said.

It added that a direct meeting between Aoun and Netanyahu, facilitated by Trump, could secure guarantees on sovereignty, territorial integrity, border security, reconstruction support and the restoration of Lebanese state authority across all its territory.

The proposal has exposed divisions inside Lebanon, where Hezbollah has rejected direct negotiations with Israel and opposed Beirut’s previous commitment to disarm the group, a longstanding demand from Western governments and Israel.

Aoun said on Wednesday that Israel must first fully implement the ceasefire before negotiations could meaningfully proceed.“Israeli attacks cannot continue as they are,” he said, adding that Lebanon was waiting for the United States to set a date for the start of direct negotiations.

Israeli forces have continued military operations despite the truce, maintaining troop activity inside what officials describe as a “Yellow Line,” a zone extending roughly 10 km into southern Lebanon along the border.Lebanon’s health ministry said Israeli strikes on Thursday killed at least 17 people in the south, including five women and two children.

Three Lebanese civil defense personnel killed in Israeli strikes were buried on Thursday.Lebanon’s state news agency NNA reported multiple Israeli airstrikes across the south, while an Israeli military spokesperson issued evacuation warnings for more than 20 villages near the border.

Hezbollah said it carried out 10 attacks on Israeli military targets in southern Lebanon, including strikes on tanks and troop positions.In Beirut, dozens of residents from southern Lebanon and local officials gathered to protest what they described as the continued destruction of villages despite the ceasefire.

Qusai Rayyan, 29, was shot and arrested by Israeli forces during a raid in Salfit Governorate in the northwestern West Bank on April 15, amid continuing Israeli operations across the territory that authorities say are aimed at addressing security threats.

The Palestinian Ministry of Detainees’ and Ex-Detainees Affairs said Rayyan had undergone several surgeries at Beilinson Hospital in northern Israel following the shooting, but remained unconscious and his condition continued to deteriorate.
