Riyadh – The Noor Riyadh 2025 festival has wrapped up a landmark fifth edition, celebrating a record-breaking seven million visitors and earning 12 prestigious international awards that elevate Riyadh’s status as a global hub for artistic innovation.

Its latest achievements reinforce the festival’s position as the world’s largest and most influential light art event, showcasing the Kingdom’s growing cultural dynamism.

Organized under the Riyadh Art program of the Royal Commission for Riyadh City, this year’s edition brought together 59 artists from 24 countries.

With 60 installations placed across major locations in the capital, the festival created an immersive citywide experience blending creativity, technology, and cultural storytelling.

The 2025 theme, “In the Blink of an Eye,” invited audiences to explore how moments, memories, and emotions can be transformed through light.

Iconic sites such as the King Abdulaziz Historical Center, Qasr Al-Hokm District, JAX District, King Abdullah Financial District, and Al-Faisaliah Tower became open-air galleries filled with color, movement, and futuristic design.

Noor Riyadh’s global recognition continues to grow, with this year’s awards including honors from LIT Lighting Design Awards, Muse Design Awards, TITAN Awards, and the New York Architecture Awards.

These accolades highlight the festival’s role as an international platform for creative excellence and technological experimentation.

The festival also achieved four Guinness World Records, underscoring its commitment to pushing artistic boundaries.

The records include the largest moving water-based art installation, the largest illuminated emoji, the largest AI-powered projection mapping on a building, and the largest 3D-printed mural artwork.

Leaders from the Riyadh Art program emphasized that the event strengthens Riyadh’s vision of becoming a global cultural destination.

According to the organizers, Noor Riyadh demonstrates how public art can uplift urban spaces, inspire community pride, and reshape the cultural identity of a modern metropolis.

Beyond the large-scale installations, the festival expanded its community engagement efforts, offering workshops, artist talks, guided tours, and family-friendly activities.

These programs brought tens of thousands of residents and visitors into direct interaction with the artworks, fostering artistic curiosity and creative learning.

This year’s educational outreach focused on introducing young audiences to digital art, design principles, and the possibilities of emerging technologies.

Families also enjoyed nightly shows and storytelling sessions, adding to the festival’s welcoming and inclusive atmosphere.

The success of Noor Riyadh reflects the broader cultural transformation underway in the Kingdom, where public art is becoming an integral part of city planning and social development.

By merging tradition with innovation, the festival celebrates both local talent and global perspectives within one vibrant platform.

As part of the Riyadh Art program’s long-term vision, Noor Riyadh is just one pillar of a larger initiative to turn the city into an open-air gallery.

Upcoming projects include Tuwaiq Sculpture 2026, which will bring international sculptors to Riyadh to collaborate, create, and engage with local communities.

The festival’s growing international attention is also boosting cultural tourism, drawing travelers who seek immersive art experiences in dynamic urban environments.

Its blend of creativity, diversity, and technological advancement reflects the spirit of a city evolving into a global creative capital.

With its record-breaking achievements and expanding global reputation, Noor Riyadh 2025 stands as a symbol of artistic ambition and cultural progress.

As preparations for future editions begin, the festival continues to illuminate Riyadh’s skyline and inspire millions with the transformative power of light.

The event reflects the Kingdom’s vision to establish a strong, responsible, and forward-thinking fashion ecosystem that aligns with global environmental and economic goals.

Hosted in Misk City, the event represents the city’s broader mission to nurture creativity, entrepreneurship, and sustainability across multiple sectors.

The forum is not only a celebration of creativity but also a strategic initiative to drive long-term change. It will highlight topics such as circular fashion, renewable materials, ethical production, and investment in sustainable manufacturing.

These discussions will help shape the future of a responsible and globally competitive fashion ecosystem in Saudi Arabia.

A key highlight of the event will be exclusive roundtable sessions designed to connect policymakers, investors, and academic experts.

These sessions will encourage collaborative decision-making and strategic partnerships that can accelerate innovation and sustainability in the fashion sector.

By uniting different fields, the forum aims to position Saudi Arabia as a leader in environmentally conscious and technologically advanced fashion.

The event will also feature a dynamic competition for Saudi entrepreneurs, where participants will present their fashion and sustainability-driven innovations.

Winners will receive mentorship from industry experts, financial support, and opportunities for real-world exposure through collaborations with established brands.

This initiative reflects the Kingdom’s focus on empowering youth and fostering local talent to become global trendsetters in sustainable design.

Networking sessions will serve as another key component, offering attendees the chance to engage directly with investors, entrepreneurs, and creative thinkers.

These interactions are expected to open doors for new collaborations, investments, and business ventures that can expand the Kingdom’s fashion and textile industries into new global markets.

Riyadh University of Arts aims to nurture talent, foster innovation, and establish Saudi Arabia as a global hub for cultural excellence.

In a landmark move to advance its creative economy, Saudi Arabia has announced the launch of the Riyadh University of Arts (RUA), a pioneering institution designed to elevate the Kingdom’s cultural and artistic sectors. Set to open in 2026, the university will offer degrees across 13 cultural disciplines, ranging from music and film to fashion, architecture, and heritage studies.

The initiative, formally unveiled by Saudi Minister of Culture Prince Bader bin Abdullah bin Farhan at the Cultural Investment Conference 2025, reflects the Kingdom’s commitment to Vision 2030, which emphasizes innovation, talent development, and diversification of the economy. Prince Bader described RUA as a “cornerstone for creative learning and cultural innovation,” highlighting its role in preparing the next generation of Saudi artists, scholars, and professionals to contribute to both the local and global creative industries.

Located in Riyadh’s Irqah district, the university will open in phases, initially establishing three foundational colleges: Music, Film, and Theatre & Performing Arts. Over time, the institution will expand to include 13 colleges, encompassing a wide range of disciplines such as Culinary Arts, Visual Arts, Photography, Literature, Fashion, Cultural Management, and Arts Management. This comprehensive academic portfolio will offer bachelor’s, master’s, and PhD programs, as well as short courses and diplomas, catering to students at every stage of their educational journey.

RUA is committed to maintaining international standards of excellence in cultural education. The university has already entered strategic partnerships with leading global institutions, focusing on curriculum development, faculty training, joint research initiatives, and student exchange programs. Scholarships will also be offered to talented individuals, ensuring that exceptional students across the Kingdom have access to world-class education in the arts.

The establishment of RUA comes amid a period of remarkable growth in Saudi Arabia’s cultural sector, which now contributes 1.6% to the Kingdom’s GDP. Employment in the sector has expanded to 234,000, with financial support for cultural initiatives expected to reach $2 billion in 2024. Infrastructure investments have surpassed SAR81 billion, and private-sector participation is growing rapidly, highlighted by 89 agreements valued at over SAR5 billion signed during the Cultural Investment Conference.

Experts project a 7% annual growth in demand for skilled cultural professionals over the next decade, with RUA expected to graduate up to 30,000 students and train 1,500 teachers by 2040, directly contributing to the Kingdom’s creative talent pipeline. By equipping students with the skills, knowledge, and international exposure needed to thrive in global creative industries, RUA positions Saudi Arabia as a center for cultural innovation and artistic excellence.

The Cultural Investment Conference 2025, held under the patronage of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, provided a platform to showcase RUA’s vision and to bring together global cultural leaders. The two-day event featured over 38 panel discussions and more than 100 speakers, including executives from Sotheby’s, Christie’s, Art Basel, and Sony Pictures Entertainment. Key themes included sustainable creative production, investment in cultural infrastructure, and public-private collaboration in nurturing the creative economy.

RUA is not only a transformative educational institution but also a symbol of Saudi Arabia’s cultural ambitions. By fostering creativity, innovation, and international collaboration, the university aligns with broader Vision 2030 objectives, including economic diversification, global engagement, and youth empowerment. Its focus on holistic artistic education ensures that graduates will be well-prepared to contribute meaningfully to the Kingdom’s evolving cultural landscape.

The university’s launch marks a strategic milestone in Saudi Arabia’s journey to becoming a global leader in the arts. With cutting-edge facilities, internationally benchmarked programs, and a commitment to nurturing local talent, Riyadh University of Arts embodies the Kingdom’s vision of a vibrant, sustainable, and world-class creative economy.

As RUA prepares to welcome its first cohort in 2026, anticipation is growing among students, educators, and cultural professionals worldwide. The institution promises to transform the Kingdom’s cultural sector, inspire artistic excellence, and establish Saudi Arabia as a hub for creativity, innovation, and global cultural leadership.
