In a momentous epic, characterized by unwavering determination and a small but resolute army, victory was ultimately achieved after a fierce and close-fought battle within the walls of Masmak Castle. This historic battle showcased the remarkable courage and military competence of those involved, leaving a lasting impression on historians and thinkers alike.

As a consequence of this remarkable victory, the heroic figure, King Abdulaziz, may God have mercy on him, achieved a pivotal milestone. On the morning of the fifth of Shawwal in the year 1319 AH, equivalent to January 15, 1902 AD, he successfully reclaimed Riyadh, the historic capital of his ancestors. With resolute determination, he embarked on a mission to unify the nation and its diverse people, setting the stage for a transformative era in the country’s history.

Following an unwavering and valiant struggle that spanned over three decades, marked by unflagging efforts and significant sacrifices, this remarkable journey culminated in a historic achievement. The great Saudi homeland, vast as a continent in its expanse, witnessed the realization of an unparalleled triumph—a record-setting unification effort that stands as an unprecedented achievement in contemporary history.

This endeavor not only united the diverse regions but also heralded the longest and most significant instance of Arab unity witnessed in recent times.

In the wake of the successful unification of the Kingdom, a momentous royal decree was issued, officially christening it as the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This historic decree came into effect on the 21st of Jumada al-Awwal in the year 1351 AH, corresponding to September 23, 1932 AD. This date holds profound significance in the collective memory of the Saudi people, carrying immense influence and motivation in the hearts and minds of all Saudis.

As we come together to celebrate, we mark the 93rd anniversary of this joyous occasion on September 23, 2023.

As we joyously celebrate this momentous National Day, we remain mindful of the noble objectives that underpin this commemoration. Our celebrations serve as a poignant reminder of the paramount importance of fostering national unity and nurturing a deep love for our cherished homeland, particularly among the youth and younger generations.

Additionally, this occasion reinforces our unwavering loyalty to our esteemed leadership and underscores our profound sense of belonging to our beloved homeland.

The expressions of love for one’s homeland are deeply rooted in our culture and history, with profound significance. One of the most poignant references to this love comes from our revered Messenger, Muhammad, may God bless him and grant him peace.

He spoke passionately of his affection for Mecca, referring to it as a land of goodness and expressing the depth of his attachment, lamenting that only the expulsion by his people forced him to leave. His words resonate with the sentiment that Mecca held a special place in his heart.

Likewise, the Prophet, peace and blessings of God be upon him, also expressed his love for Medina, beseeching God to make it dear to his followers, just as Mecca was beloved, or even more so.

These sentiments highlight the profound connection between a person and their homeland, emphasizing the deep-rooted affection and longing that individuals can harbor for the places that hold special significance in their lives.

Indeed, the blessings bestowed upon our Saudi homeland are numerous, and among the most paramount of these blessings is the gift of security and safety. Security within our homelands is a fundamental necessity sought by people everywhere. It serves as the cornerstone of peace and stability, allowing individuals to live their lives free from fear and uncertainty.

In reflection, we are reminded of the timeless wisdom found in the request of the Prophet Abraham, peace be upon him, to his Lord, Glory be to Him. His foremost plea was for the safety and security of the land.

This underscores the intrinsic importance of security as the foundation upon which all aspects of life, including worship and prosperity, can be built. A secure homeland not only brings peace to its inhabitants but also paves the way for progress, development, and the fulfillment of individual and collective aspirations.

The wisdom of ensuring security within a land is not only a matter of human concern but also a divine one. As emphasized in the Quran, in the words of the Almighty, “And when Abraham said, ‘My Lord, make this country safe'”, it is a fundamental prayer and aspiration. This divine verse underscores the paramount significance of establishing security within a nation, as it lays the foundation for the proper practice of worship and devotion.

In times of turmoil and unrest, an individual’s ability to wholeheartedly worship their Lord can be greatly hindered by the pervasive fear and anxiety that accompanies such circumstances. Security and stability within one’s homeland are not merely worldly concerns, they hold profound spiritual implications.

The illustrious history and the ongoing achievements of our nation are a source of immense pride and love for all its citizens. When we reflect on our country’s honorable past and its remarkable accomplishments in the present, it instills in us a deep sense of affection and admiration for our homeland.

On this significant day, the Saudi people rightfully take pride in their homeland, its sovereignty, and its prominent position on the global stage.

One such noteworthy example is the recent Economic Corridor Agreement discussed during the G20 Summit held in India. This transformative initiative establishes vital connections between India, the Middle East, and Europe, with Saudi Arabia serving as a central and indispensable hub in this ambitious project. This agreement demonstrates the country’s significance in fostering international cooperation and driving economic progress.

This day serves as a poignant reminder for Saudis, evoking feelings of pride, victory, unwavering resolve, and visionary leadership. It is a day that brings into sharp focus the sacrifices and dedicated efforts of our forefathers, who made the most invaluable sacrifices to ensure that our homeland would always hold a cherished and esteemed place.

We pay tribute to the brave soldiers and individuals who, through their selfless acts, laid down their lives in service to our beloved homeland. Their sacrifices are a testament to the indomitable spirit of our nation, and we hold their memory close to our hearts.

It is essential to remember that a nation’s history is the bedrock upon which its present and future stand. Our homeland boasts a storied and illustrious history, crafted by great men who were willing to give their all so that our nation would continue to stand tall and proud, even in the face of adversity and the animosity of detractors.

The world’s attention is perpetually drawn to Saudi Arabia, recognizing its pivotal role and significant geopolitical advantages. Our nation has ascended to a position of power and influence on the global stage, a testament to the far-reaching impact of our actions and the astute leadership that guides us.

Under the guidance of our exceptional leadership, Saudi Arabia has harnessed all available advantages and resources within the nation to secure a position of global prominence. Abdul Rahman Ibn Abdul Aziz al-Sudais, commonly known as Al-Sudais, serves as one of the nine imams at the Grand Mosque, Masjid al-Haram, in Makkah, Saudi Arabia. He also holds the position of president at the General Presidency for the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques.

Known for his enchanting recitation of Quran, and influence in Makkah and beyond, expressed the view that celebrating National Day extends beyond mere festivity. Instead, he believes it represents a deep-seated sense of love and loyalty to one’s homeland, echoing the sentiments of countless individuals who cherish their nation’s values, traditions, and shared identity.

The Imam’s statement takes on added significance as it positions patriotism as not just a cultural or civic sentiment but as a religious duty. This perspective aligns with the belief that love and devotion to one’s country can be seen as an extension of one’s faith and commitment to the well-being of the nation’s people.

Saudi National Day is a day of victory and glory. We celebrate the past, in which we achieved victory over dispersion, ignorance, and backwardness.

On the 17th of Jumadul-Ula 1351 Hijri which corresponds to 19th of September 1932 CE, a royal decree was issued to unify the country in the name of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as of 21st Jumadul-Awwal 1351 Hijri which corresponds to 23rd September 1932 CE, and a country came under the banner of Saudi glory, and the day of September 23 of each year became a national day.

And when we celebrate the occasion of the 92nd National Day, we find that it is a great occasion in which patriotic feelings full of pride and sense of belonging get together. Indeed, everyone is responsible for the love for this country.

As the Prince of Poets Ahmed Shawqi says, describing the feeling towards the homeland, and the love of the homeland is from faith, and the love of the homeland is instinctive with birth, and the homeland is like a bond for those who have no back.

This great country united after the founding hero King Abdulaziz – may God have mercy on him – waged an armed struggle, sacrifices and titanic efforts for more than 30 years, with the help of his loyal people, until his great efforts culminated in the unification of this lofty entity, and he was able to achieve the first and longest Arab unity, and it is the first Arab country to unite and complete the national identity, and became one of the founders of a number of international organizations such as the United Nations, the League of Arab States and others.

And when we celebrated this glorious national day, we feel that everything in this great country calls for pride and enhances the great value of our country in our souls, in addition to our great achievements and great advantages.

And when we contemplate at the world map, we find that the distinguished strategic location, the vast area, and the qualitative and distinct population qualifies it to be a truly great country. This distinguished geographical location is important for employing geopolitics (political geography) to obtain strong political influence. It is sufficient that the Kingdom is characterized by its strategic location and its geographical depth, and we have extensive and diverse sea coasts.

As the strategists say: National greatness is linked to the state’s presence on seas that can be used commercially during peace and control during war.

Saudi National Day is a day of victory and glory. We celebrate the past, in which we achieved victory over dispersion, ignorance, and backwardness. We celebrate a present in which we have made huge leaps towards elevation and glory. We await a bright future with boundless ambition that embraces the sky.

As Saudis in this great nation, we possess three pillars of strength for any nation, which are our leadership, our people, and our faith. With confidence towards more glory.

On National Day, a question comes to my mind, what should we offer to the country? It is not what was given to us. The homeland has provided us with everything security, safety, education, health and a decent life. A person without a homeland is nothing. Look around us at some countries. What happened to them in terms of insecurity, dignity, chaos and hunger, all because of the collapse of the national state that the enemies seek.

In the end, I say: We thank God for the blessing of this great nation with its great leaders and loyal men who have achieved miracles like miracles and glories to be told.

We are all confident in the tremendous efforts made by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz and his Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for the advancement, progress and development of this dear country.

We ask the Great Living God to preserve our wise leadership and our loyal people and protect our country from the plots of plotters.
