Riyadh — The Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture has unveiled four new investment projects in the Jazan region designed to enhance agricultural productivity, support food security, and encourage greater private sector participation in the Kingdom’s sustainable development goals.

The announcement reflects Saudi Arabia’s ongoing commitment to achieving self-sufficiency in key food sectors as part of Vision 2030. The projects focus on modern farming techniques, livestock development, and local agri-business innovation — all aimed at ensuring a stable and resilient food supply chain.

The first project involves the establishment of a large agricultural city in the Abu Arish governorate, spanning 82,659 square meters. This ambitious development will focus on cultivating fruit trees and will include a dedicated marketing services building to support the distribution and sale of local produce. Interested investors can submit applications until Jan. 6, 2026.

In Damad governorate, the second project will introduce hydroponic greenhouses over an area of 18,599 square meters. These advanced facilities will enable sustainable vegetable production while conserving water — a key priority in the Kingdom’s agricultural modernization strategy. The application deadline for this project is Jan. 5, 2026.

Two additional projects will take shape in the Farasan Islands, targeting livestock breeding, fattening, and red meat production. The first site covers 250,000 square meters, while the second spans 160,000 square meters. Both are expected to significantly enhance domestic meat production capacity and reduce reliance on imports. Investors have until Jan. 7, 2026, to apply for these opportunities.

By opening these projects to private sector investment through the Furas platform, the ministry seeks to create an environment that fosters innovation, job creation, and long-term sustainability in the food and agriculture sector. Officials emphasized that collaboration between government and private enterprises will be essential for advancing the Kingdom’s food security agenda.

The ministry stated that the Jazan initiatives are designed not only to improve the region’s agricultural and livestock productivity but also to serve as a model for similar projects across other regions of Saudi Arabia. Through these efforts, the Kingdom aims to empower local farmers, attract agribusiness investors, and build a robust food production system that can withstand global supply chain challenges.

These new projects reinforce Saudi Arabia’s strategic focus on sustainable development, environmental stewardship, and economic diversification. As Vision 2030 continues to guide national policies, the Jazan region is emerging as a key player in advancing food security and agricultural innovation for the Kingdom’s future.

Riyadh – Saudi Arabia and Austria are experiencing a remarkable period of strengthened economic and trade ties, reflecting the deepening

Riyadh – Saudi Arabia and Austria are experiencing a remarkable period of strengthened economic and trade ties, reflecting the deepening partnership between the two nations.

Austrian Ambassador Oskar Wustinger highlighted this progress during a reception ahead of Austrian National Day, emphasizing the dynamic and fast-growing nature of bilateral cooperation.

Trade between the countries reached new heights in 2024, with Austrian exports to Saudi Arabia rising by 49 percent and Saudi imports to Austria increasing by 29 percent.

These figures reflect a robust exchange of goods and services across multiple sectors, signaling a positive trajectory for both economies.

The growth in trade is supported by Vision 2030, Saudi Arabia’s ambitious initiative to diversify its economy and foster sustainable development.

Austrian companies with expertise in technology, infrastructure, and innovation are well-positioned to contribute to this transformative agenda.

The collaboration aligns with Saudi Arabia’s goals of modernizing its industrial and service sectors while promoting economic resilience.

Key areas of cooperation include green technology, mining, tourism, education, and infrastructure development. Austrian firms bring decades of specialized knowledge to these fields, offering solutions that support sustainable growth and efficiency.

These collaborations are paving the way for innovative projects that benefit both nations and strengthen long-term partnerships.

The Austrian Embassy Commercial Section has played a vital role in facilitating trade missions and business exchanges to Saudi Arabia.

These initiatives have enabled Austrian companies to explore opportunities, establish regional operations, and build strong relationships with Saudi partners, fostering confidence and mutual investment.

Several Austrian companies have already opened regional headquarters in Saudi Arabia, with another set to launch by December 2025.

This demonstrates the Kingdom’s appeal as a strategic hub for Austrian businesses seeking to expand their presence in the Middle East and access new markets.

Tourism has also emerged as a thriving area of collaboration, with Saudi visits to Austria rising by 34 percent during the summer of 2025. Austria’s appeal as a cultural and leisure destination continues to grow, aided by the new Schengen visa cascade, which simplifies multi-entry access for Saudi visitors.

The surge in tourism enhances cultural exchange and strengthens people-to-people connections between the two nations.

Saudi sports initiatives, particularly summer football camps held in Austria, further highlight the diversity of bilateral interactions.

These programs not only support athletic development but also promote cultural immersion and engagement with local communities. Such initiatives complement broader economic and educational cooperation.

Education remains a key pillar of the partnership, with Saudis participating in executive training programs at the Diplomatic Academy Vienna and leadership courses organized by the Austrian Foreign Ministry.

These programs provide Saudi professionals with valuable skills and insights, reinforcing the Kingdom’s commitment to capacity building and knowledge transfer.

The growing presence of Austrian subsidiaries, the rise in tourism, and active participation in education programs collectively showcase the comprehensive nature of Saudi-Austrian collaboration.

Each factor strengthens economic ties, cultural understanding, and long-term strategic engagement between the two countries.

Overall, the Saudi-Austrian partnership demonstrates a model of modern international cooperation, where trade, investment, culture, and education intersect.

The continued expansion of bilateral relations benefits businesses, communities, and governments alike, laying the foundation for sustainable growth and shared prosperity.

With ongoing projects, expanding investments, and strengthened cultural and educational exchanges, the relationship between Saudi Arabia and Austria is poised for continued success.

Both nations are leveraging their strengths to build a partnership that is innovative, resilient, and mutually beneficial, reflecting a forward-looking vision for economic and cultural collaboration.

Islamabad – Pakistan and Saudi Arabia are forging a stronger digital partnership, exploring investment and innovation to accelerate regional connectivity

Islamabad – Pakistan and Saudi Arabia are forging a stronger digital partnership, exploring investment and innovation to accelerate regional connectivity and technological growth.

In a significant step toward enhancing technological cooperation, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia held high-level discussions this week focused on expanding collaboration in digital infrastructure and services.

Pakistan’s Information Technology Minister, Shaza Fatima Khawaja, met with senior officials from the Saudi Telecom Company (STC) in Riyadh to explore ways to deepen ties in the $3.8 billion Pakistani IT sector and leverage opportunities in the growing regional digital economy.

The meeting highlighted the two nations’ commitment to broadening their decades-long partnership, which has traditionally been anchored in trade, investment, and security. During Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s visit to Riyadh last year, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia signed 34 memoranda of understanding worth $2.8 billion across multiple sectors, signaling a shared interest in promoting economic diversification and regional connectivity.

More recently, the two countries solidified their defense collaboration by entering a bilateral pact that treats aggression against one as an attack on both, underscoring mutual trust and strategic alignment.

At the heart of the recent discussions was the Connect Pakistan 2030 policy, a visionary five-year strategy aimed at accelerating the nation’s digital transformation. Minister Khawaja and STC representatives explored partnerships in fiber-optic networks, cloud computing, cybersecurity, and fintech, emphasizing Pakistan’s growing role as a hub for technological innovation in South Asia.

The country’s expanding IT export market and its 200 million mobile users were highlighted as promising avenues for investment, offering substantial opportunities for regional and international players.

STC, the largest telecom operator in Saudi Arabia and a pivotal component of the Gulf Cooperation Council’s digital infrastructure, plays a central role in Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 agenda.

Its collaboration with Pakistan is expected to strengthen the latter’s connectivity and digital services, including potential involvement in submarine cable projects and cross-border data corridors. Such initiatives would not only enhance bilateral trade and investment but also establish Pakistan as a regional transit hub, linking Gulf markets with South Asia and beyond.

The discussions also underscored mutual benefits in broader technology and infrastructure areas, including smart cities, cloud services, and cybersecurity frameworks.

Both sides emphasized that increased cooperation in digital infrastructure would support economic resilience, create new job opportunities, and position Pakistan and Saudi Arabia as leaders in regional technology adoption.

Beyond the technology sector, both nations are exploring opportunities in agriculture, education, and financial technology, reflecting a comprehensive approach to strengthening bilateral relations.

Pakistan’s food security minister noted that Prime Minister Sharif is expected to visit Saudi Arabia later this month, where key announcements on enhanced cooperation and joint projects are anticipated. This high-level engagement underscores the commitment of both governments to a long-term, mutually beneficial partnership.

Analysts and industry observers view the collaboration as a positive development for regional stability and economic growth. By combining Saudi Arabia’s investment capabilities and technological expertise with Pakistan’s emerging IT market and strategic location, the two countries are set to create a robust framework for innovation and cross-border digital services.

As Pakistan and Saudi Arabia continue to build on their historical ties, the recent focus on digital infrastructure demonstrates a forward-looking approach to regional cooperation. With initiatives spanning telecommunications, cybersecurity, fintech, and connectivity projects, both nations are not only strengthening bilateral relations but also positioning themselves as key players in the evolving global digital economy.

Riyadh University of Arts aims to nurture talent, foster innovation, and establish Saudi Arabia as a global hub for cultural excellence.

In a landmark move to advance its creative economy, Saudi Arabia has announced the launch of the Riyadh University of Arts (RUA), a pioneering institution designed to elevate the Kingdom’s cultural and artistic sectors. Set to open in 2026, the university will offer degrees across 13 cultural disciplines, ranging from music and film to fashion, architecture, and heritage studies.

The initiative, formally unveiled by Saudi Minister of Culture Prince Bader bin Abdullah bin Farhan at the Cultural Investment Conference 2025, reflects the Kingdom’s commitment to Vision 2030, which emphasizes innovation, talent development, and diversification of the economy. Prince Bader described RUA as a “cornerstone for creative learning and cultural innovation,” highlighting its role in preparing the next generation of Saudi artists, scholars, and professionals to contribute to both the local and global creative industries.

Located in Riyadh’s Irqah district, the university will open in phases, initially establishing three foundational colleges: Music, Film, and Theatre & Performing Arts. Over time, the institution will expand to include 13 colleges, encompassing a wide range of disciplines such as Culinary Arts, Visual Arts, Photography, Literature, Fashion, Cultural Management, and Arts Management. This comprehensive academic portfolio will offer bachelor’s, master’s, and PhD programs, as well as short courses and diplomas, catering to students at every stage of their educational journey.

RUA is committed to maintaining international standards of excellence in cultural education. The university has already entered strategic partnerships with leading global institutions, focusing on curriculum development, faculty training, joint research initiatives, and student exchange programs. Scholarships will also be offered to talented individuals, ensuring that exceptional students across the Kingdom have access to world-class education in the arts.

The establishment of RUA comes amid a period of remarkable growth in Saudi Arabia’s cultural sector, which now contributes 1.6% to the Kingdom’s GDP. Employment in the sector has expanded to 234,000, with financial support for cultural initiatives expected to reach $2 billion in 2024. Infrastructure investments have surpassed SAR81 billion, and private-sector participation is growing rapidly, highlighted by 89 agreements valued at over SAR5 billion signed during the Cultural Investment Conference.

Experts project a 7% annual growth in demand for skilled cultural professionals over the next decade, with RUA expected to graduate up to 30,000 students and train 1,500 teachers by 2040, directly contributing to the Kingdom’s creative talent pipeline. By equipping students with the skills, knowledge, and international exposure needed to thrive in global creative industries, RUA positions Saudi Arabia as a center for cultural innovation and artistic excellence.

The Cultural Investment Conference 2025, held under the patronage of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, provided a platform to showcase RUA’s vision and to bring together global cultural leaders. The two-day event featured over 38 panel discussions and more than 100 speakers, including executives from Sotheby’s, Christie’s, Art Basel, and Sony Pictures Entertainment. Key themes included sustainable creative production, investment in cultural infrastructure, and public-private collaboration in nurturing the creative economy.

RUA is not only a transformative educational institution but also a symbol of Saudi Arabia’s cultural ambitions. By fostering creativity, innovation, and international collaboration, the university aligns with broader Vision 2030 objectives, including economic diversification, global engagement, and youth empowerment. Its focus on holistic artistic education ensures that graduates will be well-prepared to contribute meaningfully to the Kingdom’s evolving cultural landscape.

The university’s launch marks a strategic milestone in Saudi Arabia’s journey to becoming a global leader in the arts. With cutting-edge facilities, internationally benchmarked programs, and a commitment to nurturing local talent, Riyadh University of Arts embodies the Kingdom’s vision of a vibrant, sustainable, and world-class creative economy.

As RUA prepares to welcome its first cohort in 2026, anticipation is growing among students, educators, and cultural professionals worldwide. The institution promises to transform the Kingdom’s cultural sector, inspire artistic excellence, and establish Saudi Arabia as a hub for creativity, innovation, and global cultural leadership.
