Regarding the arrest of Amritpal Singh and Amit Shah’s support of Punjab

Date:

Amit Shah, the union minister for the interior, hailed the Punjabi government for its “good work” in pursuing Amritpal Singh and his group.

Union home minister Amit Shah praised the Punjab government for doing a “good job” in the matter, following Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s praise of his Punjabi counterpart Bhagwant Mann for the action against fugitive pro-Khalistani leader Amritpal Singh and his group ‘Waris Punjab De’.

“The administration in Punjab did a terrific job. In addition, the Centre is cooperating,” Shah said on Saturday at India Today’s Karnataka Roundtable 2023.

There is no Khalistani wave in Punjab, Shah responded when asked why the Waris Punjab De head has not yet been detained. We are keeping a close eye on the situation. India’s sovereignty and unity cannot be challenged. His arrest may occur at some point. He was once able to move around without restriction, but not any longer.

Amritpal and the members of his ‘Waris Punjab De’ organisation were the targets of a severe raid by the Punjab Police on March 18. Amritpal is still at large, despite the fact that several of his friends, including his mentor/assistant Papalpreet Singh, have been detained.

At the Sri Guru Ram Dass International Airport in this city on Thursday, the extremist preacher’s wife Kirandeep Kaur was prevented from boarding an aircraft to London.

She was interrogated for more than three hours by immigration officers and other officials before being told to return with some family members who had come to see her off at the airport. On February 10, Singh wed Kaur, an Indian non-resident living in the UK.

Shah added that attacks on Indian high commissions would not be tolerated by the Narendra Modi administration.

“We have equipped the NIA with the tools necessary to look into potential conspiracies against India on foreign soil. A complaint from the Indian High Commission was also received, and the Delhi Police opened an investigation and registered a case. We have given the NIA the investigation as a result, the home minister told the news outlet.

On March 19, a group of Amritpal Singh posters and flag-waving Khalistan supporters demonstrated in front of the Indian High Commission in London. “FreeAmritpalSingh, We Want Justice, We Stand With Amritpal Singh,” the posters bearing Singh’s picture said.
