According to sources, the US security agencies and Afghan intelligence have begun cooperating closely in several places.
Leading Afghan sources have told CNN-News18 that the General Directorate of Intelligence (GDI) in Kabul has a covert contact with the Americans and occasionally cooperates with them.
When the Taliban seized control of Kabul in August 2021, the US declared victory and concluded its two-decade-long war in Afghanistan.
The sources added that recent secret discussions between the two nations’ agencies were place in Qatar and the United Arab Emirates. The two sides looked into potential areas of cooperation and further follow-up throughout the series of discussions.
Also according to credible sources, GDI’s information was the basis for the attack on ISIS militants last October in Takhar province, in northeastern Afghanistan.
On October 22, two senior Islamic State commanders and four militants were killed in the Dashti Qala neighbourhood.
According to sources, the same insurgent gang was also in charge of the August 2021 bombing at the Kabul airport.
Kandhari And Haqqani Separate
Sources claim that some Taliban insiders who received assistance from Pakistan are to blame for the conflict in Afghanistan between the Haqqani and Kandhari organisations.
The Haqqani network began to have favourable ties with the foreign community after the Taliban took power in August 2021 because the organisation had evolved into the Taliban’s public face on a global scale. Any investment in the war-torn nation required the assurance of the Haqqani network.
According to the sources, Aymen Al Zawahiri, who was at the safehouse owned by a prominent aide to Sirajuddin Haqqani, was slain because some people in Kandahar and Pakistan did not like the Haqqani group’s prominence.
In August of last year, the CIA conducted a counterterrorism operation in Kabul, which resulted in Zawahiri’s death.
Sources claim that Zawahiri was murdered as a result of rivals of Siraj disclosing information to the Americans.
