We look to God for protection and strength: U.S. President Donald Trump over Coronavirus

Date:

Washington – U.S. president Donald Trump on Saturday tweeted that Americans have always looked to God for protection and strength, while encouraging people “to turn towards prayer in an act of faith” no matter where they are, to seek God’s help against Coronavirus.

In a two-threaded tweet Trump said while announcing March 15th as a National Day of Prayer, “It is my great honor to declare Sunday, March 15th as a National Day of Prayer. We are a Country that, throughout our history, has looked to God for protection and strength in times like these.”

“No matter where you may be, I encourage you to turn towards prayer in an act of faith. Together, we will easily PREVAIL!”.

President Trump declared a U.S. national emergency on Friday over the rapid spread of coronavirus. It is to open doors to more government aids to combat the contagion that has infected more than 138,000 people worldwide and left over 5,000 dead.

One of the latest steps of Trump administration is the announcement of travel restrictions blocking U.S. entry for most people from continental Europe.

WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said Europe now had more reported cases and deaths than the rest of world combined, apart from China, where the coronavirus originated but where new cases have slowed to a trickle. The WHO called the death toll reaching 5,000 globally “a tragic milestone.”
