Saudi Arabia’s crown prince unable to attend queen’s funeral

Riyadh — Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman would not be attending Queen Elizabeth’s funeral on Monday, a British foreign office source informed on Sunday.

Prince Turki bin Mohammed al Saud would represent Saudi Arabia, according to the source. Prince Turki has served in the government as a minister of state since 2018. He belongs to the new generation of Saudis, that Prince Mohammed bin Salman has ushered into power and, he is the grandson of the late King Fahd.

The change was planned by Saudi Arabia, according to the source.

Although Britain has sent an invitation to its allies’ heads of state, it is up to those countries to decide who to send.
