Saudi Crown Prince and India’s Modi Witness Signing of 49 Agreements, Strengthening Saudi-Indian Collaboration

New Delhi – India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman presided over the signing of approximately 49 agreements on Monday. These agreements spanned across diverse sectors, underscoring the multifaceted nature of the bilateral ties between the two nations.

The signing ceremony, which took place following the conclusion of the G20 Summit in New Delhi, marked a significant milestone in the diplomatic and economic relations between Saudi Arabia and India. It showcased the intention of both countries to expand their cooperation and deepen their collaboration across a range of key areas.

Among the key agreements were those inked between the Kingdom’s Minister of Investment and India’s National Investment Promotion and Facilitation Agency. These agreements focused on areas such as energy, petrochemicals, renewable energy, agriculture, industry, as well as social and cultural sectors.

The comprehensive range of agreements underscores the shared commitment of both nations to mutual development and growth.

India’s Ministry of External Affairs confirmed the signing of these agreements and highlighted the pivotal role of the Indian-Saudi Strategic Partnership Council.

In a statement shared on their official social media page, the spokesperson stated, “[The] Agenda included a broad range of areas of bilateral cooperation, including energy security, trade and investment, defense and security, healthcare, food security, culture, and community welfare issues, among others”.

The first leaders’ meeting of the Indian-Saudi Strategic Partnership Council marks a significant milestone in the evolving relationship between the two countries. It signifies their intent to strengthen ties not only in economic sectors but also in areas crucial to the welfare and development of their respective populations.

These agreements are expected to further solidify the long-standing diplomatic and economic relations between Saudi Arabia and India, fostering a closer partnership that is mutually beneficial and aligned with their strategic interests. As both nations look toward the future, the successful conclusion of these agreements serves as a testament to their commitment to enhancing cooperation across various domains.
